The WYDE Foundation

The WYDE Foundation is the charitable engine of the platform: a 501(c)(3) public charity (IRS determination effective March 3, 2026) that sits beside the Association (the 501(c)(4) DUNA that runs the exchange). For why the two are separate, see Association & Foundation.

The Foundation is more than a tax-deductible mailbox. It is a cross-cause grant engine for charitable proliferation:

  1. It accepts tax-deductible donations on behalf of the causes (including from donor-advised funds and institutions that can only give to qualified charities).
  2. It distributes grant funding to support the growth and exposure of the charitable causes themselves, helping more causes launch and helping more people learn about the missions.

  • It compounds the mission, not the market. Grants raise the profile of the causes and help new causes get off the ground. The Foundation turns philanthropic capital into charitable momentum across the whole platform.
  • It opens institutional capital. Tax-deductibility brings in giving that could never (and should never) touch a token directly.
  • It adds oversight. A 501(c)(3) layer sits on top of an already transparent, on-chain model.
